Rosneft Plants 9.3 Million Trees in 2021

Rosneft and its subsidiaries planted around 9.3 million tree seedlings of various species in 2021.

Annually on March 21, the world celebrates the International Day of Forests, established by the UN General Assembly. The main theme of the day in 2022, “Forests and Sustainable Production and Consumption”, is designed to draw particular attention to the sustainable use and forest protection issues.

The Company reaffirmed its strategic commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals in 2018. Climate Action is one of the priority goals for the Company. Rosneft conducts consistent extensive work to conserve and restore natural resources, including forests, which are essential for the life of the entire planet.

More than 30 of the Group’s enterprises completed an unprecedented effort to plant seedlings in the regions of operation in 2021. Bashneft-Dobycha, RN-Uvatneftegaz, RN-Yuganskneftegaz, Samotlorneftegaz, Slavneft-Krasnoyarskneftegaz, Bashneft Retail, Achinsk Refinery, Komsomolsk Refinery and Syzran Refinery made the largest contribution to reforestation.

The Group’s enterprises also carry out regular environmental campaigns, including cleaning up the forests, collecting secondary raw materials, etc. In 2021, over 1,500 Rospan International employees took part in a waste paper collection and recycling campaign and in the Waste-Free Earth creative art competition. Samaraneftegaz employees participated in the clean-up of the Botanical Garden of Samara University, which has the status of a state natural monument. Moreover, the enterprise donated pine and thuja seedlings to the Botanical Garden.

Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft. The Company sees its main objectives in improving the environmental friendliness of its production and minimising the impact on the environment.
