Vankor field produced 100 millionth ton of oil

27 April 2015

Vankorneft, a Rosneft’s subsidiary, produced the 100 millionth ton of oil on the Vankor oil and gas condensate field launched in 2009. Advanced engineering solutions across all the stages of drilling, pumping, processing and transportation of Vankor crude contributed to the high output. Vankor has one of the industry-highest oil recovery factors, with the daily output of over 60,000 mt of crude.

Oil is being produced via 395 wells across 41 clusters. Crude is processed to reach commercial quality on facilities with unique parameters. They are: a 25 mln mt annually central crude collection point and a preliminary water discharge unit (UPSV-South) of over 15 mln mt crude annual capacity; the construction of another facility, UPSV-North, is being completed. The transportation is carried out via the company’s proprietary 556 km long pipeline Vankor-Pupre with four oil pumping stations on it. Vankor’s infrastructure includes over 400 km of infield pipelines, 120 km of roads and over 1,400 km of power transmission lines. All the crude produced on the Vankor field complies with the commercial oil requirements and is delivered for transportation across the main oil pipeline system to the crude oil delivery and acceptance point Vankorsky.

The company was named “The Leader of Environmental Efforts in Russia”. On the Vankor field, it implemented comprehensive innovative solutions to ensure high-level environmental protection and minimize environmental impact. The Vankor gas program aimed at sustainable use of 95% of associated petroleum gas includes power generation at Vankor gas turbine power plant, its reinjection to maintain pressure, as well as commercial delivery of the gas to Russia’s integrated gas transportation system.

In March 2015, Vankor power district joined the national power system of the country, which allowed ensuring Vankor GTPP integration into Tyumen power system and thus sufficiently enhance reliability of power supply to Vankorneft’s production facilities.

In November 2013, Vankorneft was appointed the development operator of the Suzunskoye, Tagulskoye and Lodochnoye fields that form the Vankor Cluster. Since 2014, development drilling is being carried out at the Suzunskoye field and the construction of the infield pipeline Suzun-Vankor, as well as the site preparation and cluster pad arrangement. Other fields of the Vankor project see continuing comprehensive geological exploration that started in 2014 and resulted in commercial reserve increment of 16.8 mln mt of crude and 14 bcm of natural gas at the Tagulskoye field. Possible use of Vankor’s and Suzun’s shared infrastructure allows mentioning a considerable synergy, as well as speeding up the development of new fields of the cluster.

Rosneft’s operations in the region are triggering multiplier effect by contributing to the development of related economy sectors. The Vankor field was predeveloped and launched by the best design institutes of Russia; as many as 150 companies, including 65 plants, supplied their equipment. About 90% of the equipment and services delivered to the field were produced and supplied by Russian companies. Vankorneft contracts services and works from over 150 enterprises and agencies in Krasnoyarsk Territory. In 2014, Vankorneft initiated conferences with regional industrialists to extend the pool of local enterprises capable of operating at the new cites of the Vankor cluster.

The enterprise has over 4,500 employees, with over half of them hailing from the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In the north, rotators enjoy the best living and working conditions, which are most up-to-date and comfortable.

Oilman is one of the most popular professions in the region due to Rosneft’s projects in Eastern Siberia, and especially the Vankor project. Rosneft directly contributed to the creation of Siberian Federal University’s Oil and Gas Institute, which trains oil and gas workers. In 2015, first Institute graduates trained under the Rosneft-class initiative will be hired by Vankorneft.
