Igor Sechin with working visit to Murmansk region

On July 26 the head of Rosneft Igor Sechin paid a working visit to Murmansk region, during which he observed the objects of support coastal base of Rosneft offshore projects in Western Arctic.

At the moment the Rosneft Company is implementing large-scale oil and gas projects in Arctic, which have utmost social economic and strategic importance for Russian Federation. The Company has already started direct preparation of exploration drilling in Kara Sea. The 1st well on Universitetskaya structure will be drilled in August, the drilling rig is already on the way to the drilling site. The Company is planning to implement a complex of major production and infrastructural projects to provide the realization of its offshore projects in Western Arctic.

The Ship repair facility #82 in Roslyakovo settlement of Murmansk region was chosen as a construction site for building a support coastal base for the Company’s offshore projects. Also the unified development of Murmansk transport center development (MTD) is planned, including the construction of new port transshipping complexes, marine container and logistic terminals, the development of drive railways and roads, as well as other objects.

In the period of the project implementation not only all the personnel of the facility will be involved, but also more than 2000 new working places will be needed. They will be created in following 5 years. Almost all of the vacancies will be filled with Murmansk region citizens. The Company is planning to involve the enterprises of Murmansk region construction industry in building and material supplies on a priority basis.

During the visit Igor Sechin carried out a meeting with Marina Kovtun, designate Governor of Murmansk region. The parties discussed the issues of collaboration of Rosneft and Murmansk region in relation to implementation of infrastructural and industrial projects of significant social economic and strategic importance.

The development of Arctic is a long-term and top-priority area of Russian economy, that is why the Company’s industrial objects are programmed only for growth and development. Rosneft is planning to employ the state-of-the-art technical and technological solutions. The Company is planning to become the biggest world operator of offshore deposits, the resources of which amount 25.5 bln tons of oil and 25 trln cbm of gas.
In the course of time the new industrial cluster at Murmansk region territory will promote its influence, which will make the region stable and prosperous. The mighty industrial northern gate of Russia will be a secure basis for the whole country’s economy.
